How to reach Kakinada and get around.
- By train – Kakinada has its own stations (Town and Port), but Samalkot Junction, about 12 km away, has the widest choice of long-distance trains. Rajahmundry (about 65 km) is the major junction on the main line.
- By bus – APSRTC and private buses connect Kakinada with Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Rajahmundry. Overnight buses are popular.
- By air – The nearest airport is Rajahmundry (Madhurapudi), roughly 60–65 km away. Visakhapatnam is about 150 km. Check current flights.
- Around the city – Auto-rickshaws, city buses and app cabs. Agree the fare or use the meter before starting.
- Best time to visit – November to February is pleasant. Summers are hot and humid; October–December can bring cyclone weather, so check forecasts.
